Campus Writing Retreats

Online and In-Person Facilitated Retreats for your
Campus, Conference, or Cohort

"Time is not enough."
-Macleod et al 2011

Scholars need more than a place to write. They also need strategies for managing the thoughts and feelings that undermine their productivity. This is especially the case now, as the crisis caused by the spread of COVID-19 is depriving scholars of the social and emotional resources they need to stay engaged in their scholarship.

InkWell's Campus Retreats give your faculty and graduate students new insights and research-based skills that dramatically boost their writing motivation and productivity.
BOOK A RETREAT

Consider a Campus Writing Retreat If You Want To:

  • Build Motivation. InkWell Campus Retreats build scholars’ intrinsic motivation for writing, so that each session is more focused and productive.
  • Learn Transferrable Skills. We combine evidence-based training, practice, and reflection to build skills scholars can use in their everyday writing.
  • Make Meaningful Progress. We teach scholars to work in the steady, patient, focused manner that leads to progress they can see, measure, and share. Immediately.
  • Cultivate Community. Give your faculty and grad students a common language and framework for understanding writing barriers and maintaining writing community within and across disciplines.
"Thanks to your guidance I submitted a research paper to one of my discipline's major conferences on April 1 - something I haven't done in years. It felt great."

Tim Bajkiewicz, PhD  |  Assoc. Professor, Broadcast Journalism  |  Virginia Commonwealth University

Review Our

Retreat Topics

Unstuck:
How to Uncover Your Process &
Become the Writer You Already Are

Based on Michelle's latest book, Becoming the Writer You Already Are, this retreat teaches the Writing Metaphor, a simple technique for surfacing the thoughts and feelings that keep scholars from writing. By the end of the retreat, each participant will have identified the barriers that disrupt their writing and uncovered unique solutions for overcoming those barriers.
Ready, Set, Flow:
How to Overcome Overwhelm &
Make the Most of Your Writing Time
Do your faculty and graduate students feel overwhelmed or paralyzed when they try to sit down to write? If so, this retreat will teach them how to quickly clarify what needs to be done and enjoy a strong sense of satisfaction when they’re finished. By the end of the retreat, they’ll have made meaningful, measurable progress on their manuscript. And they’ll be able to quickly decide what to focus on every time they sit down to write.
"Inviting Dr. Michelle Boyd to campus to work with our faculty was a wonderful choice. We had a good response from all parts of our campus and everyone came away feeling empowered and productive. I highly recommend!"

Kate Bullard, PhD
Office of Research and Graduate Studies  |  Lehigh University
